Understanding scripture requires much more than simply reading it, it requires us asking probing questions like who wrote it? Who was it written to? How would they have taken it at the time it was written and perhaps investigate the question of the history underneath it? Often times in scripture what we find is that there is a story underneath the scripture that provides a back drop which allows the scripture to burst with meaning.
It is important that we understand the history behind scripture before we start interpreting scripture. This series examines different areas in the bible that explode with more meaning once the other story is told.
